I started creating at a young age. My grandmother taught me to crochet and embroider at the age of 8. I sat on her couch for hours, with my little coffee tin of colorful embroidery thread, and stitched happily away on pillowcases. How I cherish those memories with my sweet grandmother. Later in my high school years, my mother patiently taught me to sew on her vintage teal Brother’s sewing machine. I took to it in a heartbeat and have been sewing ever since. After many years of marriage, craft shows peddling my wares, major and life threatening health challenges with my children, I decided to officially launch my business simply eilene in 2016. It has been a joy and labor of love. Never did I imagine starting a business and creating my dream job in my later years. Children grown, grandchildren added, I guess it was my time to bloom in a new way. Let’s not diminish the fact that I wouldn’t have had the courage to take on such an adventure without the unconditional support and enthusiastic cheerleading of this man right here, my husband. I appreciate his faith in me more than words can describe.
